Join our version of the highly contested Ryder Cup, featuring Team Lightning vs Team Thunder. This popular event is one of the highlights of the year. Once you are on a team, you will remain on that side for future events. On Saturday, pair up with a partner for an 18-hole best ball match in the morning followed by an 18-hole alternate shot event in the afternoon. Pairings for Sunday's singles match will be announced at the Saturday evening dinner.
Thunder Hills members Jim and Pat Edwards wintered in Florida and were members of Harbor Hills Country Club in Lady Lake. FL. Harbor Hills held an annual members golf tournament called the Sider Cup which was a 3-day tournament of two 64-member teams. Each team dressed in red or blue colored knickers, argyle socks and talismans hat. Jim told Thunder Hills Golf Pro Brian Wilson about the event and how much fun it was to play in. Brian called the Harbor Hills Golf Pro to learn more about the event and how the pairings worked. Brian liked what he heard and so the Thunder Cup was organized and debut in 2001.
